We are looking for a Software Engineer III, iOS to join the MyFitnessPal APPS team. Our users rely on the MyFitnessPal iOS app to power their health and fitness journeys every day. As a member of our MyFitnessPal Engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to positively impact those users with your expertise in the iOS development ecosystem. About the Team:

The APPS Team is a highly visible and impactful squad at MyFitnessPal focused on the health and fitness progress journey for our users — the place where members see their trends, insights, and achievements across the app. This cross-functional team of iOS and backend engineers partners closely with product, design, analytics, marketing, research, and customer support stakeholders. The team operates as a high-velocity experimentation squad, iterating on progress insights, visualizations, and celebratory moments to give users clear, timely feedback and guidance on their health journey.

Impact: The APPS Team is central to MyFitnessPal's core behavior loop — Plan, Act, Learn (PAL) — helping members understand what goals they have and how they're making progress toward them by making that progress feel visible, meaningful, and motivating. By owning the core Progress and engagement surfaces—where members set and refine goals, track trends, receive personalized insights, and celebrate wins—the team materially influences user activation, retention, and long-term success of both our free and Premium experiences.

What you'll be doing:

1. Work closely with our creative design and user interface team to implement native mobile interfaces according to the iOS Human Interface Guidelines
2. Continually improve the user experience by analyzing and optimizing UI, data storage, and network communications
3. Independently build and deliver high quality features and improvements
4. Research and implement high-quality technical solutions to attain business goals that will benefit our continually growing user base
5. Provide thought leadership on industry best practices around design, testing, security, and deployment
6. Work closely with your cross-functional product engineering team to solve problems
7. Turn big ideas into simple, elegant solutions

Qualifications to be successful in this role:

1. 4+ years of relevant work experience
2. Applicable experience building applications in Objective-C and Swift for the iOS platform within an Agile environment
3. Experience writing unit tests and testable code
4. Experience with multithreaded programming
5. Comfort working with RESTful APIs
6. Substantial experience with Git in a team environment
7. Experience working with a relational database
8. Past usage of at least one package manager
9. Some experience with CI/CD
10. Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment
11. Excellent communication skills
12. Excited about the opportunity to mentor junior developers
13. Demonstrate kindness and empathy

Bonus Points:

1. Exposure to XP, Pair Programming, Mob Programming or other highly collaborative working styles
2. Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) or other practices focussed on building self verifying code
3. Experience migrating a large legacy codebase to modern standards
4. Experience migrating from Objective-C to Swift

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at MyFitnessPal ranges from $135,000 - $160,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
