As a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank - Growth Markets, Instant Payments team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. This agile group is responsible for building the payment execution engine for real time payments, and this is one of the most complex and modern applications in the Commercial and Investment Bank, making heavy use of microservices, Kafka, Gemfire, and cloud services. The client base is extensive, including tech giants such as Amazon, PayPal, and eBay and being part of this project offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to large-scale systems, cutting-edge technologies, and the payments ecosystem. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.


Job Responsibilities


  1. Execute standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting for the Payment Processing Platform
  2. Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language like Java or Springboot, and data formats like JSON and Protobuf with limited guidance
  3. Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications, including distributed caching, Kafka, Oracle, and Gemfire.
  4. Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation.
  5. Apply technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity.
  6. Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development.
  7. Contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance the platform’s capabilities and extend the engine to process high volumes from new and emerging markets.
  8. Build AI use cases in the payment domain.
  9. Deploy applications to internal Gaia cloud and AWS.
  10. End-to-end ownership of building and testing features and ensuring delivery to production

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills


  1. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years of applied experience
  2. 2+ years of hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability in large-scale, distributed systems
  3. Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages (Java, Python) and database querying languages
  4. Experience with distributed caching, Kafka, Gemfire, and cloud services
  5. Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools like Grafana, Datadog
  6. Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
  7. Exposure to agile methodologies , CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  8. Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, payments ecosystem)


Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills


  1. Experience working with large client bases and high-volume transaction processing
  2. Experience in building Agentic AI application with LLM capabilities and various LLM models
  3. Experience with Vector storage like FAISS and vector DB
  4. Exposure to cloud technologies (Gaia, AWS)
