CBR is one of the best independent entertainment websites on the web, publishing up-to-the-minute news on Comic Books, Anime, TV, Movies, and Gaming related content. Our editorial team is looking for a strong writer with great editorial judgment to join our Evergreen Updates Initiative. In a fast-paced media landscape, content becomes outdated quite quickly. This initiative involves taking outdated-but high-performing-evergreen content and optimizing it to fit our current site standards. The right candidate should be able to understand what information readers are searching for and offer the most informative content possible.

Please note that this role does not involve technical writing or video production.

 

Responsibilities

• Contribute a minimum of 8-10 Updates per week in CBR's house style (following the requisite training and peer mentorship period)
  • This will include writing, fact-checking, formatting, linking, and image sourcing
• Pitch evergreen story ideas when none are readily available
• Accept and apply any/all feedback received by the editorial team
• Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team

Requirements

• Broad working knowledge of content related to one or more of the following categories:
  • Comics
  • Anime
  • TV
  • Movies
  • Gaming
• Quick learner with a strong sense of urgency, and can identify issues in an article and make recommendations for changes/improvements
• Excellent command of the English language
• Ability to write articles free of typos and grammatical errors (likewise, ability to spot typos and grammatical errors in existing articles)
• Comfortable working in an entirely virtual environment

Applicants with experience in the following areas will be given favorable consideration:

• Relevant experience in writing and/or editing roles (digital publications, entertainment content)
• Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS
• Image editing
• SEO
• Keyword research
• Analytics (GA)
