Job Description:

At point.me, we’re on a mission to increase the spending power for millions of people by turning loyalty points into wealth. We are committed to simplifying the loyalty points experience and increasing our customers' spending power by using our real-time search and booking engine, making it easy to book flights with points.

Over the last two-plus decades, points and miles have evolved into a multi-billion-dollar industry. Exact numbers aren’t published, but it’s estimated that $300 billion in award points are issued every year. For context, that’s on par with the GDP of Greece!

Join us and be part of a fast-growing company where your work will make a real impact on the future of award booking. We offer competitive salaries, meaningful equity, comprehensive health coverage, and the opportunity to work fully remotely as part of a distributed team.

The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Consumer Product team, you will take ownership of designing, building, and scaling polished consumer-facing web applications. You will work closely with Product and Design to drive end-to-end technical delivery, transform complex problems into intuitive experiences, and help shape how our consumers engage with our platform.

We are looking for someone who brings deep technical judgment, genuine curiosity, and a builder’s mindset, and who gets excited about tackling complex problems that will shape the future of award travel for millions of people.

What You'll Do

  1. Feature Delivery: Own the end-to-end development of new features from technical design to implementation, testing, and deployment, ensuring a seamless experience for our consumers.
  2. Code Quality & Architecture: Write clean, scalable, and thoroughly-tested code using modern web development languages and frameworks (JavaScript, React, TypeScript). Make sound architectural decisions that balance short-term progress with long-term maintainability.
  3. Raise the bar: Advocate for strong architectural patterns and contribute to continuous improvements in our development practices. Conduct thorough code reviews, mentor team members on best practices, and ensure the codebase remains robust and adaptable to evolving product requirements.
  4. API & Web Services Development: Build and maintain reliable web services and integrations that connect our frontend applications with real-time data sources and external APIs.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate user needs into robust technical solutions that scale.

Who You Are

  1. 5+ years of professional experience building web applications, with a preference for experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (JavaScript, React, Next.js, and TypeScript). Experience integrating 3rd party services (Stripe, Airbyte, Segment, other analytics and marketing tools) to create leverage and drive development velocity is a bonus.
  2. Proven ability to deliver high-quality features quickly, balancing iteration speed with maintainable code in a start-up environment.
  3. Responsible for end-to-end delivery, from design to production monitoring, with a focus on long-term quality.
  4. Skilled at partnering with cross-functional teams and communicating tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  5. Able to break down complex, ambiguous problems into clear, actionable steps and well-considered decisions.
  6. Strong command of software design patterns, automated testing strategies, and database design principles that enable building maintainable, scalable applications.
  7. Builder mindset, passionate about understanding the customer problem, experimenting, and finding pragmatic solutions. Strong interest in consumer products and crafting delightful user experiences.
