Responsibilities

We are on the lookout for a senior narrative designer who could bring a whole new world of crime stories to life on our original AAA game project in the LA studio. You will be responsible for everything that relates to the story of the game, as well as working and assisting other departments and working together to make the creative ideas a reality. What You’ll Be Doing:

Build the overall worldview of the game according to the project requirements, helping to develop the world and the narratives within it;

Ideate, develop, adapt, write, and revise stories and scripts for in-game narratives, while integrating them seamlessly into the established worldview through modifications and fine adjustments as needed;

Work closely with other disciplines, including design, cinematics, art, production and more to integrate narrative into all aspects of the game world;

Work alongside the other narrative designers to research and develop original stories;

Collaborate on and peer review scripts alongside other narrative designers;

Develop, create and pitch original storylines to stakeholders;

Responsible for the writing of in-game strings and text content, such as dialogue, mission descriptions and other miscellaneous copywriting;

Take initiative by proactively driving tasks forward, whether assigned or self-identified, to support team and organizational success;

Organize and manage the delivery of storylines and scripts from ideation to final implementation;

Collaborate closely with the Lead Narrative Designer, Cinematics Director, and Creative Director to help realize and refine the creative vision of the game.

Qualifications

We Expect You To Have:

Bachelor degree or above, preferably in literature, screenwriting, film, game design or a related field;

Strong understanding of narrative structures, character development, and plot progression;

5+ years of working experience as a narrative designer or writer in the video game industry;

Completed or shipped at least one AAA project, from start to finish, in a narrative role;

Proficiency with narrative structures, character development, and plot progression;

Passion for stories and games, especially story-driven AAA games and action games;

Communicates complex ideas clearly and concisely, both in writing and in person, and applies analytical skills to drive informed decision-making.

Even Better If You Have:

Familiarity with crime genre;

Experience writing for story-rich, cinematic games.

Additional Information

Hybrid role based in El Segundo (Monday, Wednesday & Thursday on-site);

Current working hours: Monday – Friday, 11am – 8pm Pacific Time (including one-hour break);

The estimated base pay range for this role is: 130-180k USD.
