Senior MuleSoft Developer (RTF / API Governance) - Long-term Contract - 100% Remote

Optomi, in partnership with a Fortune 10 telecommunications leader, is seeking a Senior MuleSoft Developer/Architect to drive API governance strategy and lead development initiatives across enterprise-level integrations. This individual will play a pivotal role in defining and enforcing API standards, working across cloud and on-premise environments, and deploying scalable solutions using MuleSoft RTF.

Targeted Skills & Experience

1. 8+ years of software development experience, including 4+ years in MuleSoft or enterprise Java API development
2. Strong enterprise Java (Java 8 and 17) or Python background
3. Certified MuleSoft Developer and Platform Architect preferred
4. Hands-on experience with MuleSoft 3.8 and 4.x
5. Experience deploying Mule applications using Runtime Fabric (RTF)
6. Deep understanding of API governance, standards enforcement, and security practices
7. Exposure to tools for API authentication and secure integrations
8. Experience with PBI dashboarding/reporting is a plus
9. Prior experience enforcing API ownership, catalog management, and use of internal application identifiers (e.g., mods ID in ServiceNow)

Project Details

1. API Governance is a key initiative; team is leveraging custom scripts and automation in place of expensive OOTB governance tools
2. Candidate will help define, implement, and enforce rules for API quality, ownership, and standardization
3. High visibility role with cross-functional collaboration across architecture, engineering, and business stakeholders
4. Must be comfortable with configuration-heavy work typical of MuleSoft's low-code environment
5. Preference for candidates with experience modernizing legacy Java integrations into MuleSoft services
