This Role in a Nutshell

1. Fully Remote: Yes, OTR is a fully remote company.
2. Deep Mobile Experience: Expert-level Flutter and Dart. You hit the ground running.
3. Pixel-Perfect UI: Our app needs to look and feel as good as it works. You bring the eye for detail to make that happen.
4. AI-Forward: You are already using AI to write, review, debug, or ship code faster. We do not just allow AI tools — we expect you to use them.
5. Work Hours: You must be available during PST/PDT business hours.
6. Hiring Speed: We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

What You Will Do

1. Own the mobile experience. Lead the architecture, implementation, and evolution of our flagship iOS and Android apps, used by tens of thousands of people every day.
2. Ship end-to-end features. Translate product ideas and Figma designs into pixel-perfect interfaces that are fast, responsive, and delightful across devices.
3. Build from scratch. Take new app ideas from concept to production.
4. Leverage AI to move faster. Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and code review. Help the team adopt and refine AI-powered workflows that increase our output without sacrificing quality.
5. Scale our component library. Establish reusable widgets, patterns, and tooling to increase velocity and maintain consistency.
6. Raise the bar on quality. Implement robust unit and integration tests, error monitoring, and performance optimization.
7. Partner across the stack. Collaborate closely with Product Design, Backend Engineers, and the Leadership Team to define APIs, shape UX, and deliver measurable outcomes.
8. Own releases. Manage app store submissions, track bugs, and optimize performance.
9. Mentor and multiply. Share best practices — including AI workflows — review code thoughtfully, and uplevel the team.

Must-Have Experience

1. 6+ years of mobile app development experience (iOS, Android, React Native, or Flutter)
2. 3+ years of hands-on production development with Flutter and Dart
3. Pixel-perfect UI using Flutter’s widget system, responsive layouts, and platform-aware design
4. Strong understanding of state management, app architecture, and runtime performance
5. Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit + integration) and working with CI/CD pipelines
6. Comfortable managing app releases (App Store and Google Play) and tracking bugs end to end
7. Deep understanding of HTTP, REST, and frontend/backend communication patterns
8. Active use of AI development tools. You should already be using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar AI assistants in your daily development workflow. We are not looking for someone who plans to start — we are looking for someone who is already there.
9. A self-starter with a bias for action — you do not wait to be told what to do

Nice-to-Have

1. Experience with native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development
2. Familiarity with Firebase, push notifications, and deep linking
3. Experience with backend development (Java, Spring Boot, or similar)
4. SQL proficiency and familiarity with relational databases
5. Experience building or integrating AI-powered features into mobile apps (on-device models, LLM APIs, intelligent UX)
6. Contributions to open-source projects or published writing on development topics

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Exceptional experience and an impressive portfolio can substitute.

1. Native or near-native English proficiency is required. This is a fully remote team where all collaboration — standups, architecture discussions, code reviews, written docs — happens in English. You must be able to communicate clearly and confidently in real-time conversations, at a level where teammates would never think twice about your ability to keep up.
