Job Title: Senior Mainframe Developer

Primary Skills: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, C++

Location: United States — Onsite / Hybrid / Remote (based on client needs)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical Mainframe applications using COBOL and C++.
2. Develop, enhance, and support applications using COBOL (Batch & Online), JCL, CICS, DB2, and C++.
3. Design and optimize batch processing systems and online transaction systems for high performance and scalability.
4. Develop and maintain system components written in C++ for performance-intensive modules or integration layers.
5. Create and manage JCL jobs, job scheduling, and production workflows.
6. Work extensively with DB2 databases, SQL queries, and performance tuning.
7. Handle VSAM files (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS) and sequential file processing.
8. Integrate Mainframe applications with distributed systems using MQ, APIs, Web Services, or middleware technologies.
9. Lead production support, troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure system stability.
10. Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable enterprise solutions.
11. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and mentor junior developers.
12. Support compliance, audit, and enterprise security requirements.
13. Contribute to modernization initiatives involving Mainframe and distributed platform integration.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. 8+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe Development.
2. Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and DB2.
3. Hands-on experience with C++ development, including performance optimization and system-level programming.
4. Extensive experience with batch and online transaction processing systems.
5. Strong knowledge of DB2 SQL and database performance tuning.
6. Experience with VSAM file processing and data handling.
7. Experience with MQ Series, APIs, or middleware integration.
8. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
9. Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
10. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
11. Experience supporting enterprise-scale or US-based client environments is highly preferred.
12. Experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance (BFSI) is a strong plus.

Nice to Have:

1. Experience with Mainframe modernization initiatives.
2. Exposure to IMS, REXX, Easytrieve, or IDMS.
3. Knowledge of hybrid architectures integrating Mainframe with cloud platforms.
4. Experience with DevOps or CI/CD pipelines in Mainframe or C++ environments.
