Responsibilities:

1. Deep dive into user problems to simplify and optimize operational workflows for efficient business processes.
2. Architect and implement simple, modular, and flexible software systems capable of evolving with changing business needs.
3. Lead both backend and frontend development for major projects utilizing a modern technology stack.
4. Establish and maintain robust automated testing practices across unit, integration, and system layers.
5. Improve the reliability, observability, and operational robustness of production systems at scale.
6. Systematize AI-assisted workflows across the development, testing, and operations lifecycle.
7. Uphold code quality, clear engineering patterns, and code review standards.
8. Mentor junior engineers through direct coaching, pairing, and design reviews to grow overall team capability.
9. Drive increases in team throughput by addressing architectural complexity and eliminating inefficiency.

Must-Have Skills:

1. 8+ years experience building and operating production-grade distributed systems.
2. Full stack development experience with Python, Go, or similar object-oriented languages.
3. Frontend experience using React or similar JavaScript frameworks.
4. Expertise in architecting distributed and event-driven systems with technologies like Kafka.
5. Proficiency with PostgreSQL, including database modeling and performance tuning.
6. History of designing simple, resilient, and scalable systems.
7. Demonstrated implementation of comprehensive automated testing strategies.
8. Experience driving architectural decisions in fast-paced, evolving environments.
9. Proven track record mentoring and growing junior engineers.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

1. Experience building modern fulfillment, logistics, or warehouse management systems.
2. Willingness to travel to or relocate to Kigali, Rwanda.
