Job Description:

The Parade Media Lifestyle Group is looking for a Senior Food & Drink Editor who thrives in a fast-paced digital environment to play a key role in expanding our coverage in big, exciting ways. The ideal candidate is clued in on the top personalities in the food world today–from chefs to influencers to creators–and the latest trending ingredients, recipes, products and menu items on tables across the country. You're a pro at sourcing and editing recipes and working with developers; have a stable of freelancers at the ready; are obsessed with the food-focused shows and stars on TV and streaming, and can turn around great copy–and headlines–on a dime.

The Arena Group's expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $65,000 - $80,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group's total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Deputy Food & Drink Editor to set short- and long-term strategy
  • Ideate, pitch, and assign recipes and evergreen stories about food—ingredients, techniques, tools and nutrition that target key metrics and trending topics
  • Recruit and manage freelance recipe developers and writers
  • Pitch and write engaging, shareable stories as necessary
  • Manage the edit schedule and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Identify burgeoning food trends around the country
  • Develop relationships with chefs, creators, influencers and other experts
     

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of post-grad experience as a writer/editor working on food and recipe content for digital sites
  • Sharp editing and writing skills
  • Deeply knowledgeable about ingredients, cooking techniques and food trends
  • Attention to detail and keen editorial judgment
  • A passion for food, beverages, cooking and industry trends
  • Knowledge of digital content best practices, SEO and audience development tactics
  • Experience with analytical & research tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Google News & Trends, social media, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently
  • Positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • A tireless drive and commitment to reaching and exceeding goals
  • Experience working in a CMS
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
