About the role:

The Senior DevOps Engineer will lead the automation, deployment, and optimization of the client’s Windows Server and IIS-based cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Azure DevOps, infrastructure as code (IaC), and cloud-based technologies to drive continuous integration, reliable deployments, and operational efficiency across all environments supporting the Website Modernization Project.

Location: Remote

Project Duration: 2.5 years, with potential for extension

What you'll do:

  1. Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for application and infrastructure deployments
  2. Automate provisioning, configuration, and scaling of Windows Server and IIS environments using PowerShell, ARM templates, and YAML
  3. Monitor and enhance system performance, uptime, and security across production and non-production environments
  4. Integrate infrastructure automation with version control, build/release pipelines, and deployment strategies
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployments, and system performance
  6. Implement cloud governance, cost optimization, and DevOps best practices in a multi-environment Azure landscape
  7. Collaborate with development, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth and repeatable releases
  8. Maintain and improve observability solutions, including log aggregation, metrics, and alerting (e.g., Azure Monitor, App Insights)

What you'll need:

  1. Experience: 8+ years of experience in DevOps, system administration, or cloud infrastructure engineering
  2. Strong expertise in Windows Server administration and IIS configuration
  3. Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD), pipelines, and repositories
  4. Proficiency in PowerShell, YAML, and infrastructure as code
  5. Experience with monitoring and logging tools like AzureMonitor, App Insights. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  6. Knowledge of Azure Functions, or other cloud automation tools
  7. Experience working with New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) or other municipal agencies is a plus
