Role Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist I in the Protein & Cell Engineering group. You will play a pivotal role in supporting lead optimization efforts to drive our oncology pipeline. You will leverage your expertise in vector biology to design, construct, and evaluate molecules that will regulate cell function and phenotype. Additionally, you will apply your knowledge in protein engineering to evaluate and troubleshoot molecular designs. You will work closely with cross-functional groups to ensure seamless integration of molecular biology efforts within the broader development pipeline. Direct experience in molecular biology, understanding of protein structure, and the ability to independently design and execute complex cell engineering experiments are essential.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, optimize, construct, and characterize CARs and TCRs in Primary T-cells
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and/or troubleshoot molecular designs
  • Provide strategic input and direction towards lead optimization efforts
  • Interact with scientists within protein & cell engineering and across functional groups to support evaluation of functional payloads in engineered immune cells
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in molecular biology and protein engineering, and apply this knowledge to enhance project outcomes
  • Carry out CRISPR gene editing and lentiviral transduction protocols
  • Maintain project timelines and report progress regularly to key stakeholders
  • Maintain excellent records of experiments in lab notebooks in a timely manner
  • Present data at group and company meetings and externally as required

 

 

Role Requirements and Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, bioengineering, chemical engineering or a closely related discipline with 2+ years of postgraduate work experience in a biotech or industry setting or master’s degree with 10 – 12 years relevant experience.
  • Deep experience with construct design, codon optimization and synthesis, and molecular cloning techniques
  • Experience with molecular biology software, protein modeling and visualization tools
  • Extensive knowledge of protein engineering methods and theory
  • Working knowledge of T-cell culture, activation/expansion, and functional assays
  • Knowledge of analytical/sorting flow cytometry protocols
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, plan, and execute next steps based on experimental results in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Strong organizational, record-keeping and communication skills, both verbal and written

 

 

Salary Range: $113,000-$135,000
