Job Description:

Video Game Design & Coding Instructor (Part-Time)

Inspire the next generation of game creators!

We’re looking for a creative, tech-savvy instructor to teach kids how to design and code their own retro-style video games. Students will start by creating simple classics like Tetris and Adventure, then work their way up to designing a more complex game inspired by The Legend of Zelda.

You’ll guide them from idea to playable game, mixing coding, art, and game design in a fun, hands-on environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Teach kids the basics of coding & game development in an engaging, beginner-friendly way.
  • Start with foundational retro games (Tetris, Adventure) and progress to larger projects (Zelda-style adventure game).
  • Help students design characters, build levels, and add movement, physics, and effects.
  • Introduce tools like Python/PygameGodotGameMaker Studio, or Roblox Studio.
  • Encourage creativity while teaching real programming concepts.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom where kids feel excited to learn.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in game development (professional or hobbyist).
  • Comfortable with beginner-friendly programming tools and engines.
  • Knowledge of retro game styles.
  • Enjoy working with kids in a classroom or camp setting.
  • Familiarity with Mac computers and relevant software.
  • Great communicator who can make coding fun.
  • Teaching experience is a plus, but not required.

Why Join Us?

  • Fun, creative work environment.
  • Flexible part-time schedule.
  • Opportunity to inspire future programmers, artists, and game designers.

How to Apply:

Send us a short intro about yourself, your game development experience, and any relevant teaching/mentoring background. Share a portfolio or examples of your work if possible. Email to guajardo64@gmail.com or call 501-680-9670
