POSITION SUMMARY:

NSU has a unique opportunity for an entry-level engineer to join our dynamic Design/Build/Operate team. This position would support NSU’s wastewater treatment and water reuse projects primarily with engineering design, drafting, AutoCAD, Revit, field work, and general project execution. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing engineering tasks and activities on assigned water resources projects as a member or our engineering team

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be able to work and communicate comfortably within a team and individually as required
  • Demonstrated strong initiative and problem solving skills.
  • Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks on conventional projects
  • Support project team with generation of written material including reports, memo’s and studies.
  • Works on small projects independently or portions of larger projects as part of a team
  • Prepares construction drawings, details and specifications under the direction of senior engineer
  • Project site visits, assist with construction management support and inspection
  • Assists in determining project schedule and budget requirements.
  • Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems
  • Assists with client, customer, vendor, regulatory communications.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, and utility mark outs periodically.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • EDUCATION. Minimum of bachelor’s degree (BS) from an accredited four-year engineering/technical college or university with course work related to the design of water resources infrastructure. Civil, environmental, chemical, and/or mechanical engineering background expected.
  • SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

    MS Office platform, AutoCAD, REVIT, GIS (preferred but not required)

  • LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS

    EIT Certification or ability to obtain same within one year

  • EXPERIENCE

    Entry level to 3 years of experience in civil or water/wastewater infrastructure engineering, however, will consider the right candidate with a minimum of an internship at an engineering firm including generation of construction documents with AutoCAD and Revit.

  • 75% office-based, 25% field based, though variable throughout the year depending on project needs.
  • Exposure to typical office based and construction site noise levels should be expected.
