Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Program, the Program Specialist, Leadership and Awards will contribute to membership engagement and retention by providing support to Girl Scouts and volunteers that increases participation in the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Girl Scout Highest Awards. The Program Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of level appropriate and inclusive curriculum, providing supportive, accurate, and consistent feedback, and maintaining accurate records.

This position will have a hybrid work arrangement with work from home, communities served, and at designated GSEMA offices or properties as needed both indoors and outdoors.

Explore Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop leadership curriculum that is age/Girl Scout level appropriate, inclusive, outcome-based and increases girls’ understanding of and interest in community engagement and the Highest Awards.
  • Deliver engaging and exciting programing to Girl Scouts in grades 4-12 both virtually and in-person.
  • Serve as the council expert on Bronze and Silver Awards providing guidance for staff and members.
  • Manage Bronze and Silver Award lifecycles including maintaining detailed records, vetting proposals, providing project support, and processing final reports and recognitions.
  • Provide consistent and helpful feedback and support to Girl Scouts and their supporting volunteers pursuing the Bronze and Silver Awards.
  • Support with Gold Award review, feedback, and celebration as needed.
  • Support additional council programs and events as needed.
  • Ensure that all programs and activities are consistent with GSUSA Girl Leadership Experience, GSUSA and GSEMA health, risk management and safety standards, and local, state, and federal laws/guidelines.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related equivalent experience.
  • Required: Experience in volunteer management or meeting management and facilitation, education, or learning and development or other relevant/transferable experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in nontraditional education.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on metrics and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Strong public relations skills; able to engage with both adults and children; bilingual skills preferred.
  • Clear oral and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; adept at social media; experience with Salesforce or ability to learn new technology.
  • Able to plan, organize, and prioritize work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
