AXS is seeking a Product Developer to join our carbonhouse team in Charlotte, NC. This role will be geared toward someone who can operate across the full stack while deeply integrating AI into product experiences. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product thinking, and applied AI—ideal for someone who doesn't just build features, but shapes intelligent systems that deliver real user value.

You'll work on designing, building, and scaling applications that leverage modern AI capabilities (LLMs, embeddings, automation pipelines) alongside traditional web architecture.

What You'll Do

1. Design and build full-stack applications from concept to production (frontend, backend, APIs)
2. Integrate AI capabilities into products (e.g., LLMs, vector search, AI workflows, agents)
3. Collaborate with product and design to define features, UX, and system behavior
4. Architect scalable backend systems and data flows (including API-first and event-driven patterns)
5. Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI-driven features and products
6. Evaluate and implement third-party AI tools, APIs, and infrastructure
7. Optimize performance, reliability, and cost of AI systems
8. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
9. Contribute to product strategy, not just implementation

Required Skills

1. Strong experience across the stack:
2. Frontend: React, Next.js, Astro or similar modern frameworks
3. Backend: Node.js, PHP, Python or similar
4. APIs: REST and/or GraphQL
5. Experience building and shipping production applications
6. Familiarity with integrating AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
7. Understanding of:
8. Prompt engineering
9. Embeddings and vector databases
10. Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
11. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or similar)
12. Solid grasp of data modeling and system design

3. Experience with edge computing or serverless platforms

6. Experience with real-time systems or streaming data
7. Startup or small-team experience (wearing multiple hats)

Pay Scale: $75,000 - $100,000

Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
