Precision Medicine Navigation Scientist

About the Role

As a Navigation Scientist, you will be crucial in aligning patients and treatments as part of our precision medicine programs. Your responsibilities will include reviewing patient clinical data and researching existing and developmental therapies for various diseases. You will drive conversion rates of successful enrollment in clinical trials. You will be crucial in advancing our patients' understanding and engagement with our precision medicine products and driving innovation in your area.

Key Responsibilities

You will work both independently and collaboratively to support our navigators, senior

scientists, and clinicians in the following areas:

1. Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient data.
2. Treatment Strategies: Create and deliver treatment strategies to patients and physicians.
3. Navigator and Patient Education: Communicate with patients, navigators, and other care team members to answer scientific questions and ensure a proper understanding.
4. Diagnostic Test Support: Review diagnostic testing options and results and assist navigators in understanding the indications for and implications of diagnostic testing.
5. Clinical Trials: Review and curate clinical trials and research studies for eligible patients. Deliver precision medicine strategies to patients.
6. Patient Engagement and Education: Educate patients about the potential benefits and risks of precision medicine, genetic testing, and clinical trials.
7. Communication: Use plain language to communicate in an easy-to-understand manner.
8. Patient Advocacy: Advocate for patient needs, preferences, and concerns to ensure their voice is heard in the healthcare decision-making process
9. Quality Assurance: Ensure that precision medicine services meet the highest quality standards and adhere to industry regulations.

Qualifications

1. Doctorate or Master's plus three years of experience in a clinically relevant area of study
2. Scientific writing skills
3. Excellent research skills
4. Empathetic listener with experience working directly with patients
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
7. Knowledge of medical ontologies and/or experience with medical claims is preferred
8. A strong understanding of precision medicine principles, genetic testing, and genomic data interpretation is also preferred
9. Keen ability to focus on process improvement
