Posted: January 30, 2023 Closed: February 27, 2023Employment Opportunity: post-High SchoolPOSITION: Special Education Teacher/Community Based Instructor (2 positions)Begins summer of 2023 and 2023/2024 school yearThe Shrewsbury Public Schools post-secondary RISE (Reaching Independence through Supported Employment) program is seeking two dynamic individuals to provide instruction in the areas of education, vocation and community-based needs for our students aged 18-22. These teachers will be under the direction of the RISE Program Coordinator and assist with data collection, IEP writing and management and facilitating lessons within various educational, vocational and community -based settings. These teachers will provide instruction related to accessing the community, functional academic, and activities of daily living to students with disabilities and assist to develop and maintain community, family and school relationships. This program runs both the regular school year and there is a summer program component of five weeks with tentative hours of 8am - 3pm, and we are hopeful that the same hires for the fall will also be available to work on a per diem basis for the summer program. Job Requirements:Develop and implement functional lesson plans relevant to all IEP goals that facilitate students post-secondary plans that may include functional academic, ADLs, community access, and employment training Supervise, assist and train job coaches on and off student employment sites.Assist Program Coordinator with identifying and obtaining potential job and internship sites.Work with students in vocational and educational settings by providing skill-based supports.Work collaboratively with student, family, school staff, paraprofessionals/job coaches, adult service agencies and community members to facilitate successful transitionsMaintain record keeping, paperwork and data collection to monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives. Assist with personal care needs in community settings as necessary.Support access to community college or certificate program. Write and implement all aspects of each students IEP and participate in the Team meeting process. Other job-related duties as needed.
