Summary of Job Duties:

The Post-Doctoral Fellow will work within the Division of Developmental Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, with affiliations at Arkansas Children’s Research Institute (ACRI) and the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center (ACNC). This role involves working within an interdisciplinary research team and utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to conduct advanced data analyses of clinical studies. The fellow will analyze complex dietary datasets to evaluate prenatal, infant, and toddler dietary patterns and their influence on growth and development. As part of a collaborative team engaged in ongoing randomized controlled trials, the fellow will contribute to active research initiatives while gaining opportunities to develop independent research pathways.


Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in nutrition or related field with experience in dietary data analyses required.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts research as outlined with minimal supervision in funded and proposed grant applications under the direction and mentorship of the Principal Investigator or Collaborators.
  2. Develops or modifies research protocols and collects background information for ongoing and future experiments and grant projects.
  3. Troubleshoots new and existing experimental approaches and makes recommendations for research refinement and protocol development.
  4. Maintains proper records of experiments in detail.
  5. Documents all experimental results, including photos where appropriate.
  6. Maintains a safe work environment and safety training.
  7. Maintains all necessary records for equipment, maintenance, use, etc. (this may include service contracts and scheduled maintenance visits).
  8. Prepares publications and presents data in written and oral presentations. Participates in preparing grant proposals and assists the Principal Investigator in these duties.
  9. Proficiently prepares and processes new research proposals and amendments according to institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and federal regulations.
  10. May participate in periodic site visits from sponsor agencies, regulatory authorities, and others to review research, source documentation, and research procedures.
  11. Attends seminars and meetings as instructed or suggested by the mentor/supervisor.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025 .
