Job Title: Portuguese Editor III
Location: Remote
Duration: 4 Months
Our client is hiring Portuguese (Brazil) language freelance editor with technical editing experience to support the editorial efforts for the Summits in São Paolo. This role primarily involves editing session titles and abstracts and formatting and editing PowerPoint presentations.
Duties include:
- Copy editing and proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., with a high degree of accuracy and without introducing errors or compromising the technical meaning.
- Basic formatting of presentations (correcting egregious formatting errors)
- Reviewing for legal issues (copyright and trademark violations) and branding or messaging violations
- Adjusting the level of edit and shifting priorities depending on project length, time allotted, deadlines, and other factors.
- Working directly with presenters on last-minute changes to content in high-pressure environments
- Periodically participating in editorial meetings with editors and successfully completing assigned trainings
Basic qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional copyediting experience in Portuguese in a fast-paced environment
- A degree in English language, localization, technical communication, or a related field
- Fluency with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Experience editing technical content.
- Professional level speaking fluency (Level 3 ILR or equivalent) in English and Portuguese
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience editing content in the technology sector or computer industry.
- Experience editing content for presentations and/or events.
- Advanced copyediting and proofreading skills and advanced knowledge of grammar
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with The Chicago Manual of Style
- Demonstrated customer-service orientation.
- Experience performing legal compliance reviews on content.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large volumes of work with minimal oversight and under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to learn and work quickly with high accuracy.
- Ability to perform a reasonable level of self-directed research to make editorial decisions.
- Ability to discuss edits with content creators in a confident, helpful, and professional manner, knowing when to push back and when to reasonably compromise.
