Job Description:

The St. Louis Jewish Federation (Federation) is looking for an individual to serve as a Philanthropy Associate focused on our Community Campaign!

For over 120 years Federation has provided support - financial and beyond – to an ecosystem of partners in order to meet the needs of the community in St. Louis and around the world. Raising between $12-$17M annually, and operating a Foundation (Center for Legacy Giving) with over $150M in assets, the Development department leads Federation’s work as the center for Jewish philanthropy in St. Louis.

This position is key to our ongoing fundraising efforts. This team member will specialize in developing and implementing strategies to inspire philanthropy across our donor audiences while managing a portfolio of donors of all sizes through personal relationships. We offer a compensation package that includes a fun, collaborative team environment with excellent health and wellness benefits, and a compensation range between $50,000 and $58,000 a year depending on experience. This position will work in a hybrid work environment, including 2-3 days per week at the Millstone Campus in Creve Coeur.

How will you spend your time?

  • Managing a portfolio of donors to solicit and cultivate relationships; regularly meeting and connecting with assigned donors;
  • Leading our community campaign efforts by creating unique and creative ways to share the story and impact of the Jewish Federation to lead the charge to sustain and grow our donor group;
  • Partnering with the Communications team to manage marketing campaigns, developing and executing fundraising strategies via social media, direct mail, email, texting, telemarketing and more;
  • Engaging volunteer board members to implement strategies and build relationships;
  • Leading donor gratitude processes by supporting a team of volunteers in making gratitude outreach to donors;
  • Enhancing donor relations by supporting our Annual Campaign Manager and a team of Mitzvah Makers (volunteer fundraisers) to aid in donor solicitation and strategy to secure gifts to the annual campaign;
  • Plan and implement events and fundraising appeals that raise brand awareness and engage donors;
  • Supporting Jewish Federation’s Grant Writing process by leading 2+ grand report and grant application projects annually and assisting in the preparation of proposals and reports;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for our Community Campaign Philanthropy Associate:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-3 years of communications experience with knowledge of social media strategies
  • Experience in front-line fundraising with donor cultivation and solicitation experience a plus but not required. Applicants with a strong interest and passion for fundraising, who do not have formal experience in this field, are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of St. Louis’ Jewish community preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Constituent Relationship Management software (such as Blackbaud or Salesforce)
