Job Description:

The University of Virginia is searching for collaborative and dynamic candidates for a Performance Management Consultant/Senior Performance Management Consultant position. The position will be filled at the Consultant or Senior Consultant level, depending on qualifications and experience.

As a Performance Management Consultant/Senior Performance Management Consultant, you will play a vital role in leading the future of employee performance engagement as well as coaching and advising leaders on performance and engagement strategies. You will work closely with leaders across the organization to create a culture of developmental performance management through coaching to help leaders/managers facilitate continuous improvement, lead highly effective teams, and achieve superior results.

This position requires strong skills as a strategic, adept practitioner with prior experience developing and implementing Performance Management strategy with successful, measurable outcomes. Success in this role will also include the ability to demonstrate data analysis and interpretation, a strong understanding of adult development theories, a growth mindset, strong customer service and case management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability and desire to lead strategic discussions, facilitate workshops and group training activities is also critical.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as subject matter expert on Performance Management. Works with senior leaders across the organization on performance management strategy and initiatives.
  • Assumes operational responsibility for administration, communication and consulting related to the UVA Health or the Academic Division staff Performance Management process.
  • Oversees change management and the education of leaders, managers, and employees on performance management processes including topics such as constructive feedback, goal setting, succession planning, career conversations, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversees the programmatic development and implementation of succession/business continuity planning across the organization to include – change management, resource development, workshop facilitation, and leadership consultations.
  • Consults with senior leaders on goal alignment with the organization’s strategic objective and provides executive level summaries and presentations across the organization.
  • Partners and maintains close relationships with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to work alongside senior leaders to implement performance management strategies.
  • Designs significant supporting resources and provides guidance for HRBPs, including calibration discussions with leadership, ongoing coaching, and reinforcing UVA's overarching philosophy of ongoing Performance Management
  • Designs and implements performance assessment tools and metrics to monitor employee performance and identify areas for improvement. Analyzes performance data to draw actionable insights.
  • Partners and maintains close relationships with the Workday Configuration and technical teams to design, develop, implement, and maintain performance reviews in Workday
  • Partners with additional stakeholders that includes compensation, communication, employee relation, compliance. and governance teams
  • Utilize data-driven insights to recommend strategic changes and improvements to the organization's performance management processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

For the Consultant: a High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Five years of relevant experience.

For the Senior Consultant: A High School Diploma or equivalent, and at least eight years of relevant experience is required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience is considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Four or more years of experience in performance management, coaching, or talent management in Health Care or Higher Education
  • Experience partnering independently with senior leadership and their teams to improve their overall effectiveness.
  • Excellent understanding of HR principles, performance evaluation, and coaching techniques.
  • Proficiency with Workday’s performance management tools preferred.
  • Excellent data analysis and storytelling skills strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Certification in coaching or relevant professional development is a plus.

 

The anticipated hiring range for this role is will be $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. The successful candidate will pass a background check. This is a full-time position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:
