At VHC Health we are looking for a team member to pre-register and register all types of patients and ensure that bills are produced according to regulatory and payer requirements. Other responsibilities include effectively completing all activities including medical necessity, managed care requirement screening, third party eligibility and benefit verification to ensure maximum payer compliance is maintained and maximum reimbursement is secured. This team member interacts in a customer-focused manner and a main goal of this position is to ensure that patient's and their representatives needs are met.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Receives and properly responds to telephone, electronic or face-to-face inquiries from patients or their representatives, regarding revenue cycle issues that might arise during or after the patient encounter and which include such issues as the status of the patient account, etc.
  • Working independently or in conjunction with nursing or other personnel, coordinates inpatient bed placement and maintains adequate records to ensure census control, including the proper and timely processing and reporting of admissions, discharges and transfers.
  • Reviews physician orders and other documentation according to internal policy and regulation as applicable to insure that the service being provided has been appropriately documented and meets all known payer medical necessity and other criteria; initiates the ABN process as necessary.
  • Negotiates with the patient or responsible party to achieve a mutually acceptable resolution of the expected self-pay balance including such options as credit card payments, deposits, extended self pay arrangements, screening for charity and other program applications.
  • Provides appropriate explanations to patients and other appropriate parties, and secures and witnesses all required signatures according to internal policy and regulation as applicable including consent to treat, assignment of insurance benefits, release of information, ABN, financial responsibility, and other attestations as applicable.
  • Reviews and analyzes all access information and transaction reports in order to find and correct deficiencies such as missing signatures, COB and other flagged edits.
