Job Description:

What You'll Do:

As a New Business Consultant you’ll provide all level of quote and cross-purchase positioning & support to Group Benefit Sales Reps and Regional Sales Managers within an assigned territory. In this role you’ll apply client level customization by understanding key broker relationships to assess benefit of current carrier to align Principal plan design by having a high-level knowledge of product, pricing of both new sale and renewal, underwriting & quoting process guidelines.

 


Here are some examples of the kinds of things you’ll do:

  • Prepare large complex group new business & cross-purchase proposals for quoting, then apply Principal plan design to match benefits and input into proposal system.
  • Collaborate with business partners to provide an accurate renewal rating on Self-Accounting renewals through the analysis of renewal census data and evaluation of both standard and non- standard benefit offerings.
  • Monitor pipeline for potential sales and act as a liaison for the Sales Representative with underwriting to negotiate additional pricing relief.
  • Assist with preparation and presentation of written proposal and other materials illustrating plan design and product solutions for prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with Sales Representatives, Account Executives and Relationship Managers, to identify opportunities to meet and exceed annual sales and retention goals.
  • Respond promptly to broker inquiries providing sales and service expertise on products, concepts, proposals, systems or non-routine service issues and follow up on business with potential to close in order to improve sales results.
  • Research and answer questions and provide information and recommendations to internal and external customers.
  • Document all prospect activity in accordance with established standard processes.
  • Prepare summary of sold case for Implementation Managers and Specialists including confirmation of sold proposal, discount documentation and underwriting approvals.
  • Provide informal leadership by assisting with mentoring, training new and existing employees, and partnering with field office employees in understanding market specific challenges and opportunities.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus at least 4+ years of related work experience required.
  • Able to obtain product knowledge through training and self-initiated education.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, presentation, communications and analytical skills required.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Salesforce.
  • Must have flexibility to change assignments and priorities as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Travel may be required (up to 10%), including overnight stays.

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
