Duties and responsibilities

• Respond to network incidents related to routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs and Wi-Fi access points and restore systems to normal operating status
• Manage and support network infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, VPN, routing protocols and general TCP/IP address management
• Plans, implements and monitors security protocols to maintain the integrity of network, data and security related equipment
• Troubleshoot hardware and software failures related to networking equipment, working with vendor support as needed to bring resolution to any issues
• Troubleshoot and diagnosis of network communication issues between network endpoints (servers, laptops, printers, etc.) by using tools such as packet capture software or examining system logs
• Configure firewalls and other network security devices to provide protection against network threats, working with IT security to enforce company policies and remediate audit findings
• Make recommendations to management for improvements, upgrades, and general lifecycle management of all network components
• Utilize advanced diagraming software, such as Visio, to create network diagrams and related documentation and procedures
• Work with management and vendors to ensure network systems are optimized and functioning as intended

Qualifications

Education

• Associates degree in Computer Systems or equivalent

Experience/Training

• Minimum of 4 years working with advanced networking technology such as PoE, Layer 3 switching, BGP, routers, MPLS, VLAN isolation, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi technologies
• Minimum of 3 years working with ISPs and other circuit providers to design, install and troubleshoot circuits.
• Minimum of 3 years working directly with end users and/or customers in either a pre-sales or support position.
• Minimum 3 years hands on experience with Cisco and Meraki products
• Technical knowledge necessary to manipulate/modify risk mitigating devices (firewalls, network access control, IPS/IDS, Privilege Identity Management, malware mitigation, web proxy, etc.)
• Experience supporting Windows & Linux servers a plus
• Experience with Infrastructure as a Code, especially using Terraform a plus
• Experience with AWS infrastructure a plus

Professional Certification/License

• Minimum of one IT certification in a network or telecom area

Working Conditions

Work is performed remotely and sometimes in a professional office environment with no unusual hazards. There may be some travel with overnight stays. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cell phones and IT support applications.
