Job Description:

The Media Production Manager (MPM) produces online and digital content for revitalizing the Ho-Chunk language. The position will provide a variety of moderately complex information and technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of language learning via technology services. The MPM will manage and lead development to all digital media for the purpose of outreaching to and engaging language learners. These include, but not limited to, graphic design, websites, webcasts, blogs, social media, podcasts, and apps. The MPM will also perform a broad range of technological assistance, production job processing, and equipment maintenance and repair, and computer operations assignments.

Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the Winnebago Tribe’s core mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, decision-making, leadership, critical thinking, analytical, research, information and computer literacy, strategic planning, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Serves as the Ho-Chunk Renaissance “Information Technology expert” remaining current with emerging digital trends opportunities, and best practices to revitalize the language.
  • Provides assistance in the use of computer hardware, software, computer programming and operations, helpdesk, systems development, operating systems, data management and specialized mainframe technology or operates a multiplatform computer environment.
  • Manages digital language learning projects, which will be utilized, cataloged, archived, and appropriately disbursed to community and tribal members.
  • Research and develop new desktop, mobile, and web-based tools for language development and solutions.
  • Manages and implements a production of audio recording and videos, including: concept/theme development, production planning, and execution of all steps resulting in a final product.
  • Will assist Language instructors and Language apprentice(s) in developing digital lessons for classroom instruction.
  • Responsible for developing policies and developmental plan for usage of existing archival audio and video content.
  • Manage and develop a digital/online plan for language awareness including website, social media, apps, computer games, and other platforms.
  • Program digital tools and resources for language learning in classroom.
  • Willing to learn graphic design basics to assist and in absence of the Media & Design Specialist.
  • Assist Community Outreach Coordinator provide information to students, staff, or the public on language revitalization services provided.
  • Lead online and digital preservation efforts including but not limited to: online language course(s), language and cultural database, creating a platform for preserving historical information.
  • Work with other staff members to ensure successful project delivery from project inception through closure.
  • Participate in program-sponsored events to encourage community involvement in language revitalization.
  • Submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist staff with curriculum development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Or 2–3-year experience in multimedia development.
  • Excellent skills in both PC and Mac environments, including knowledge of and familiarity of common office software (Microsoft Office, especially Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook) common file formats, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing for the web, and in the production of digital communications including filming and editing of video, production of audio, and written web content.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in completing the goals and objective of the program.
  • Must be willing to commit to necessary training to increase knowledge for program’s mission and goals. Travel may be required.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work efficiently with a wide variety of people in environment.

Training Requirements:

  • Must be willing to attend meetings and trainings as requested.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
  • While performing daily duties, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.

  • Reading, writing, calculating
  • Above average social interaction skills
  • Reasoning/Analysis
  • Ability to work as part of a team and/or with minimal to no supervision.

Language Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
