Job Details:
Meta is seeking a strong product prototype/design focused Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Seattle, WA! The Product Design Engineering team is working on cutting edge technology and needs help from skilled engineers that will help bring ideas to reality. The main function of this Product Design Engineer is to explore, prototype and implement new technologies into functional medium volume prototypes to validate technical and product level functionality, use cases and tech maturity. You will work alongside a diverse and expert XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, Optical engineers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience designing components or systems for consumer electronics or similar mid to high-volume industries.
- Experience with NX and SolidWorks CAD
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Material science experience with relevant materials for consumer electronics: plastics, metals, insulators, gaskets, thermal interface materials.
- Experience in the following Heat transfer, Statics, Dynamics, Structural design
- Experience with production drawings
- Experience with tolerance analysis
- Familiarity with PCBA and FPC design and manufacturing methods.
- Experience with various subtractive and additive manufacturing technologies for production and prototyping: injection molding, sheet metal, co-molding, machining, CNC
- Data analysis and visualization experience (matlab, python, jmp or similar)
- Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop
- Proficient in NX
Preferred (Not Required):
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of experience designing components or systems for consumer electronics or similar high-volume industries.
- Experience designing parts with highly cosmetic surfaces.
- Mechanism design
- Electronics cooling and thermal architecture design and testing experience
- Sensor design experience
- Optomechanical experience
- DOE and SPC experience
- FEA experience (order of importance): statics, dynamics, thermal, fluids
- Knowledge of design for reliability
- Familiarity with reliability and compliance testing
- Knowledge of electrical design, hardware automation, arduino, etc...
