Salary Range: $17.50 - $20.00 DOQ
(Also includes some Park District Facility/Program Usage Benefits)

Hours: Flexible hours between 9am - 5pm up to 28 hours per week and may include evenings and weekends.

 


JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager the Marketing Assistant will be responsible for print and digital marketing material distribution, editing and proofing, event and program photography and video, graphic design, community outreach and general duties to support the operations of the Marketing department. This is an in person position with the ability to travel locally.

 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Distribute and display marketing and communication materials at Park District facilities, local businesses and government agencies.
  • Assist with photography and videography at District events, facilities, and programs as needed in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing Manager to assist with content creation for social media and other digital marketing needs.
  • Design advertisements, postcards, flyers, newsletters, trifolds, business cards, banners, posters, signs, etc. to promote park district programs and events in both Adobe InDesign and Illustrator. On the job training can be provided.
  • Assist with securing and maintaining District Sponsors and Advertisers
  • Schedule Park District signs to be displayed at various parks.
  • Work with online and local print companies to minimize expenses.
  • Adhere to brand identity guidelines.
  • Communicate with members in other departments to understand the scope of projects.
  • Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
  • Provide support to the Marketing Manager on special projects as assigned.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Coordinate numerous projects at once while adhering to project deadlines.

 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform special projects and/or other duties as assigned by the Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Manage the postal account to ensure that there are sufficient funds for direct mail projects.
  • Organize and label marketing inventory such as banners and signage for department reference.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • General design and printing experience.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to produce accurate work in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with external vendors, such as printers, contract graphic artists, mail houses, etc.
  • Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in graphic design, marketing or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Working photography experience
  • Working graphic design experience in print and/or digital communications.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of Constant Contact
  • Working knowledge of printing terms and processes.
  • Working knowledge of Google Office Suite.
