Job Description:

To be a successful Transportation / Trucking Manager, you should possess exceptional leadership skills and maintain a high standard of customer service. Ultimately, the Manager should be able to display extensive knowledge of logistics, ability to deal with third party haulers, and oversee members of our team that currently dispatch our haulers. Based in our Marietta, Georgia office, the Transportation / Logistics Manager oversees the hauling coordination necessary to support our operating divisions in the transportation of materials to our construction sites, and to our asphalt & concrete plants. In this role, the manager will oversee transportation operations ensuring that all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of materials.
  • Planning, organizing, and managing staff members to ensure work is completed and consistent with the company's standards.
  • Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as cost and performance goals and objectives.
  • Negotiate rates with third party haulers and assist our estimating department during bids.
  • Comply with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Communicates standard logistics metrics and reports weekly to the stakeholders regarding material delivery status and costs.
  • Communicates & reinforces logistics plans. Maintains clear communication & close co-operation with the Project and Plant staff. Works with our internal managers to proactively avoid & resolve quality & service issues related to logistics.
  • Generates & implements innovations for logistical competitive advantage.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and laws affecting freight shipping.
  • Strong data gathering and analysis background in order to set goals and maintain KPI’s and standards
  • This position may require up to 25% travel within Georgia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel); Power BI knowledge would be excellent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related major plus five years experience in a related logistics/transportation field OR an Associate degree in related major plus ten years experience in a related logistics/transportation field OR a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) plus 15 years experience in a related logistics/transportation field.
  • Must have a broad working knowledge of all principles and methods for moving materials by road including relative costs and benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of cost estimating is a plus.
  • Broad knowledge of construction projects is desired.
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Must be team player but able to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
