Job Description:

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Lead Software Engineer (Back End) in United States.

This role is a high-impact technical leadership position focused on building and scaling backend systems in a modern cloud-native environment. You will design and deliver robust solutions on AWS while driving architecture decisions that shape long-term platform evolution. The position combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration across product, design, and business teams. You will play a key role in integrating complex systems, including AWS services and Salesforce, ensuring secure and seamless data flow. The environment is fast-paced, agile, and mission-driven, with a strong emphasis on engineering excellence and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to influence both technical direction and customer-facing digital experiences at scale.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will be responsible for leading backend engineering efforts, architecting scalable systems, and ensuring high-quality delivery across cloud-based platforms.

  1. Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend solutions on AWS, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across distributed systems.
  2. Lead architecture discussions, technical decision-making, and code quality standards to support long-term system scalability and maintainability.
  3. Build and maintain integrations between AWS services and Salesforce, ensuring seamless and secure data exchange.
  4. Collaborate closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful, user-focused digital experiences.
  5. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and hands-on support to engineering teams, removing blockers and guiding solution design.
  6. Own CI/CD-driven delivery processes using tools such as GitHub and Jira, ensuring efficient and predictable releases.
  7. Implement and enforce engineering best practices, including testing strategies, production readiness, and operational excellence.
  8. Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Requirements

This role requires deep backend engineering expertise, strong cloud architecture experience, and proven leadership in complex distributed systems.

  1. 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5+ years working extensively with AWS cloud environments.
  2. Strong programming background in Java, Python, Node.js, or Bash, with deep backend development expertise.
  3. Proven experience designing and delivering complex, scalable backend systems in cloud-native architectures.
  4. Hands-on expertise with AWS services such as Lambda, EC2, RDS, EKS, and S3.
  5. Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and secure system design.
  6. Experience building and maintaining Salesforce integrations using APIs and/or middleware tools (MuleSoft experience a plus).
  7. Strong knowledge of security practices including encryption, authentication, authorization, and data protection.
  8. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed system issues.
  9. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  10. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality delivery standards.
  11. Experience in financial services is a plus but not required.

Benefits

  1. Competitive annual salary range: $181,000 - $208,000 (based on experience, skills, and location)
  2. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  3. 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  4. Paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and volunteer time off
  5. 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  6. Flexible pre-tax transit benefits
  7. Life insurance at no cost and voluntary benefit options
  8. Wellness incentive programs and employee support resources
  9. Pet health insurance discounts
  10. Mentorship, leadership development, and strong career growth opportunities
