MTD is searching for a Lead Marketing Specialist.

The Lead Marketing Specialist advances MTD’s brand and drives public engagement by leading marketing and communications projects, campaigns, and copy writing. This includes public facing and internal communications, marketing, and outreach functions. The Lead Marketing Specialist develops content and works with community partners to improve the customer experience, promote a positive perception of MTD, mobilize advocates, and raise public awareness of the benefits of public transit.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $68,000/based on experience

Education Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, business, outreach, community engagement, or a related field is required.

Experience Requirements

1. A minimum of two years progressively responsible work experience, preferably in marketing, advertising, community engagement, outreach, event planning, or related setting, is required. Three or more years is preferred.
2. Proficient computer and software skills, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other current computer applications are required.
3. Experience in videography, video editing, social media, and photography is required.
4. Excellent written and public communications skills.

Responsibilities

1. Conceive, produce, and curate content for digital, print, outdoor, and on-board channels in support of established communications and marketing goals
2. Support internal communications, in coordination with the Communication Design Specialist, related to safety, service, and educational materials, specifically the production of a monthly internal newsletter
3. Update and maintain information on MTD’s public website; create and curate content for social media posts, email campaigns, presentations, promotions, etc.
4. Collaborate with subject matter experts, project managers, and the Communication Design Specialist to write, design, and produce web pages, Pulse articles, social media posts, e-newsletters, video, infographics, and other content
5. Monitor ongoing social and cultural conversations to identify and implement ‘real-time’ opportunities to amplify MTD’s voice and value, including buying and placing advertisements in outside media
6. Coordinate and manage MTD’s participation in public outreach events in the community, public schools, Parkland College, University of Illinois, and parades, ensuring educational materials and giveaways are available
7. Manage MTD’s external and internal surveys, including analysis of data and reporting to relevant stakeholders on the results
8. Support Accessible Design Standards and receive ongoing accessibility training to ensure preservation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) initiatives
9. Chair MTD’s annual United Way Champaign County Combined Charities Campaign
10. Increase MTD’s exposure by developing cooperative partnerships, strategizing initiatives with the Advertising Specialist to support new and ongoing partnerships to leverage resources for maximum exposure, ROI, and brand positioning in coordination with MTD’s transit advertising program
