Compass Management & Consulting is a full service association management company located in the Southpoint area of Jacksonville. Our staff of 25 provides services to not-for-profit medical associations by way of meeting and event planning, educational program development, accounting services, legislative activities, membership recruitment and retention, marketing and communications and website, eLearning, database and custom application development.

The Junior Web Developer is initially responsible for assisting in the maintenance and content editing of multiple client websites. This position is intended to evolve into developing robust, well-tested solutions to interesting programming challenges our business faces every day. Use a variety of web technologies including LAMP, Laravel, Node, Vue, jQuery and other technologies to meet our internal support needs; build modern, mobile ready websites; provide great customer service and build great user experiences.

Secondarily, the Junior Web Developer may assist with infrastructure maintenance including, but not limited to, monitoring website statistics collection, and testing websites for cross-browser compatibility issues.

Occasional travel to support meetings and education staff may also be requested.

This individual should endeavor to become familiar with the issues that face the company as a whole and in particular, the groups and/or clients that are managed so that development work can be proactive in anticipating future needs and creative in presenting new and unique solutions to the special challenges that will arise.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree of equivalent experience preferred.
• 1 year minimum experience in content management using HTML, CSS and some JavaScript/jQuery.
• At least a cursory familiarity with the Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) development stack.
• Drupal and/or Laravel experience strongly desired; but not essential.
• Comfortable working in a windows and/or a Linux desktop environment.

As with most jobs, the Junior Web Developer should expect to sometimes perform duties beyond and outside the immediate scope of this job description.

Other Notes:

• This is primarily a remote work position. You may occasionally be requested to travel 2 to 3 times per year - either to work at meetings or for company functions. While we do work remotely; employees are required to maintain a professional demeanor at all times and a suitably quiet and distraction free environment during normal business hours which are 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday Eastern.
