Job Description:

The Information Technology Technical Writer III drives the creation of a documentation methodology and framework and maintains proper methodology for purposes of consistency and efficiency. This position prepares and/or maintains documentation pertaining to programming, systems operation and user documentation. This position translates business specifications into user documentation. This position writes and maintains systems and user support documentation efforts. This position is familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Duties

Create and edit complex system related information products, often from scratch, for both IT and non-IT customers such as procedure manuals, on-line help, quick reference cards, workflows, project materials, training materials and policy & procedures, business and functional requirements specifications, as well as technical design documents. Gather and research information for use in technical documentation. Review documents and written communications for format, consistency, ease of understanding and compliance with existing IT procedures.

 

 

Create and maintain consistently professional standard formats for various types of work products.

 


Maintains a current internal documentation library.

 

 

Serve as mentor/subject matter expert in technical writing.

 

 

Gather and research information for use in technical documentation. Review documents and written communications for format, consistency, ease of understanding and compliance with existing IT procedures. Verifies information using thorough research and consultation with other subject matter experts and ensures information is written in a verified logical sequence.

 

 

Analyze business and technical processes and project objectives to develop comprehensive technical and non-technical project deliverables.

 

 

Provides assistance to the development team in the analysis and validation on the inspection of the proposed requirements.

 

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Required

Bachelor's Degree

In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Education Preferred

Experience

Required:
At least 5 years of experience designing or developing on-line help systems for non-technical audience, or designing and developing systems specifications, requirements, operational procedures or other technical documentation for a technical audience in a corporate environment, preferably in an IT organization.

Ability to plan strategically.
