Job Description:

The Southern Minnesota Independent Living Enterprises & Services (SMILES) is seeking a full-time self-motivated individual to join our Mankato office to provide independent living skills training to individuals with disabilities in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties. Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma with one year experience in a disability related position and a valid driver’s license. Starting wage between $15.25 to $16.47 dependent on experience.

Train, teach and assist each consumer in learning activities associated with daily living. Reports and/or documents routine and unusual events including but not limited to daily progress notes, incident reports, and outcome data sheets, in a concise, understandable, and legible manner. Maintain open communication and cooperative work effort with other staff to assure quality support to people served. Maintain and expand skill and knowledge relevant to providing quality support and services.

• Knowledge of human disabilities and their characteristics. 2. Knowledge of independent living skills and its facilitation. 3. Knowledge of human services programs, practices and procedures. 4. Ability to administer independent living skills training. 5. Possess good verbal, reading, and written communication skills.
