We are looking for an Import Coordinator to join our growing team at JONATHAN Y. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to efficiently collaborate with different team member to ensure all inbound shipments are successfully received at our distribution center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute the day-to-day shipments originated and/or handled by the logistics department; prioritize, schedule and route shipments and arrange for transportation
- Ensure that regulatory requirements are met and shipments have exact paperwork (e.g. transit documents and custom clearances)
- Prepare all major data entry and confirmation of key milestones (departure, arrival, custom clearance, PODs and so on)
- Communicate with overseas offices, vendors/forwarders/shippers for import documentation
- Monitor all shipments in transit
- Resolve any shipment or customs delays to avoid delays and storage charges
- Obtain quotes from vendors for Ocean freight shipment requests
- Assist with freight costs negotiation to get the best possible pricing, service levels and drive cost savings
- Ensure the correct duty rate is paid for all import entries
- Process claims and credit for delayed shipments, ensuring carrier accountability
- Stay up-to-date on government regulations, customs regulations, tariffs and other international import compliance.
Qualifications
- Experience of working with customs brokers, shipping providers
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
