Duties:

1. Design visual components for permanent and temporary exhibits including panels, graphics, signage, wayfinding, and interactive visuals in collaboration with the exhibit team that align with Hawaiian cultural, scientific, and educational goals.
2. Prepare files for fabrication and work with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for production and installation.
3. Create original designs for print and digital materials including flyers, brochures, newsletters, posters, annual reports, and signage to support for fundraising, development, and educational outreach efforts.
4. Ensure brand alignment and design consistency across all collateral.
5. Maintain and update a digital archive of design templates and assets.
6. Assist in the development of integrated marketing campaigns to promote exhibits, programs, and events including promotional content for social media, email marketing, and web platforms.
7. Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of visual campaigns and recommend improvements.
8. Ensure digital media meets accessibility and usability standards.
9. Assist in updating web pages and managing digital assets.
10. Participate in project meetings, brainstorm sessions, and exhibit reviews.
11. Assist in procurement and vendor management for graphic and exhibit production.
12. Provide guidance to student assistants or interns as assigned.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in graphic design, exhibit design, marketing, communications, art, or a related field and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience in visual design or marketing; or equivalent education/training or experience.
2. Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
3. Demonstrated experience in creating print and digital design materials.
4. Experience in exhibit design or museum/gallery environments.
5. Familiarity with Hawaiian culture, language, and values, or experience working with Indigenous communities.
6. Experience in post-secondary institution graphic design
7. Strong attention to detail and ability to translate concepts into visual form.
8. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Photography and/or videography skills.
2. Knowledge of accessibility standards for exhibit and digital design.
3. Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools, or social media management platforms.
4. Hawaiian Language proficiency
