The Renaissance Charter School 2 is a charter school in Elmhurst, NY. We are professional, agile, innovative and our goal is to identify a passionate and experienced teacher to join our high school team as a special education teacher.

In a small, village-like setting, Renaissance provides a supportive environment. Staff and parents work together to develop students' academic and leadership skills. Teachers collaborate on developing integrated subject matter, innovative approaches to learning, and improved practice.

Responsibilities:

1. Actively engage with the Renaissance community in fulfilling its mission and charter goals
2. Establish and maintain positive relationships and constructive interactions with students, families, colleagues and administration
3. Create and maintain an engaging and organized physical classroom environment, making learning accessible to all students
4. Implement evidence-based teaching strategies such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy, and classroom management techniques to support students with autism and other developmental disabilities and tailor curriculum to students’ individual IEP goals.
5. Uphold all school policies within the classroom
6. Collaborate with and guide classroom teaching assistants
7. Maintain organized records of anecdotal notes and assessments
8. Appropriately give and receive feedback to/from students, parents, staff and administration
9. Keep families well-informed of student performance and progress

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
2. New York State teaching certification required. TRCS will consider candidates that are either (a) already fully certified at time of application, or (b) on track to become fully certified by the first day of employment.

Pay: $78,000.00 - $104,000.00 per year
