First Look:

Parade is looking for a full-time contract Health & Wellness Editor who thrives in a fast-paced digital environment to play a role in expanding our coverage in this key vertical. The ideal candidate is clued in to the latest health and wellness news and trends and the experts and personalities driving the conversation. You’re a pro at sourcing the kinds of stories that get clicked on, shared and picked up by Google Discover and other referrers. You have a stable of freelancers at the ready who can handle explainers, listicles, how-tos, compelling personal narratives and can turn around great copy–and headlines–on a dime.

The Arena Group’s expected hourly pay range is $30 - $40 USD. Actual pay will vary based on multiple factors including education, experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You’ll Do:

1. Collaborate with our Deputy Health & Wellness Editor to set short- and long-term strategy for audience growth
2. Ideate, pitch, and assign breakthrough trending, referral-focused and evergreen stories that target key metrics and trending topics
3. Recruit and manage freelance writers
4. Pitch and write engaging, shareable stories as necessary
5. Manage the edit schedule and ensure that deadlines are met
6. Assist in executing sponsored campaigns
7. Update evergreen content for the vertical and assist in managing other update editors
8. Assist in identifying commerce opportunities in the health and wellness space
9. Develop relationships with health and wellness experts, creators, influencers and other contributors
10. Manage writer onboarding, budget reporting and invoicing for the vertical

What You’ll Bring:

1. Minimum 3-5 years of post-grad experience as a writer/editor growing audience around health and wellness content for digital sites, required
2. Sharp editing and writing skills
3. Deeply knowledgeable about sourcing for health, medical, fitness and nutrition stories
4. Attention to detail and keen editorial judgment
5. A personal passion for healthy lifestyle
6. Knowledge of digital content best practices, SEO and audience development tactics
7. Experience with analytical & research tools such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Google News & Trends, social media, etc.
8. Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail
9. Self-starter who is able to work independently
10. Positive, solutions-oriented attitude
11. A tireless drive and commitment to reaching and exceeding goals
12. Experience working in a CMS
13. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
