Job Description and Responsibilities

**All positions at HazAdapt are compensated with company stock in this early stage and will be eligible for salary as well in the future.**

The Hazard Researcher and Content Writer will be developing hazard-related content for incorporation into the HazAdapt App Hazard Guide (https://app.hazadapt.com/hazards). The right candidate must embrace inclusivity, thrive in owning all aspects of content development, and be passionate about educating and connecting audiences through clear, purposeful, and well-researched written materials. We are looking for writers from an array of disciplines who can compile, synthesize, distill, and communicate reputable and accurate hazard-related information.

We are intentionally hiring humans for this role, not AI. The intelligence, skills, and perspective you bring as a human are extremely valuable to our work. As is your wellbeing and mental health. You will never be required to use AI to accomplish your responsibilities while working at HazAdapt.

The candidate must be willing to engage in regular team content review discussions and provide necessary editing. The candidate must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, collaborative, and inspired to create written content that avoids harm and is inclusive of all people.

The Hazard Researcher and Content Writer will be responsible for:

  1. Researching and compiling reputable hazard safety and recovery content;
  2. Synthesizing compiled content to extract the most critical information;
  3. Entering hazard content into the HazAdapt hazard database;
  4. Developing hazard-specific write-ups for the HazAdapt App in clear and accessible language that is both thorough and accurate;
  5. Participating in regular team meetings to discuss content developed, review written material, assess possible impacts and potential to do harm, and revise

Job Location

100% Remote

Required Qualifications

  1. Knows how to use Google Docs and is comfortable using Google tools like Google Drive, Sheets, and Slides
  2. Ability to synthesize actionable information from expert sources
  3. Ability to follow an organized workflow for content creation
  4. Experience with written communication for broad and specialized audiences
  5. Access to a computer or similar technology not provided by HazAdapt
  6. Willingness to work both collaboratively and independently

Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of experience or significant background in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Public Health, Global Health, Social Work, Family Health, Harm Prevention
  2. Emergency response and related emergency management services
  3. Mental Health and Human Behavior
  4. Human Geography, Natural and Environmental Science, Geoscience
  5. Search and Rescue, National Guard, Coast Guard, or wildfire crew experience
  6. Disabilities and Applied Adaptation* (seeking multiple perspectives)

Special considerations for applicants with training or knowledge in:

  1. Surviving war and crisis zones with current era weapons and technologies
  2. Child and adult psychology, trauma, and recovery support
  3. Long-term off-grid survival in urban environments
