Hansen Talent Group is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join a great team focused on creating and supporting healthcare applications. This position is open to a remote candidate with strong COBOL and EDI experience.

The COBOL Programmer will be responsible for the design and development of healthcare applications and EDI processes supporting claims processing for government systems.

Duties:

1. Leading projects and involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining and supporting complex application software that is delivered on time and within budget.
2. Produce deliverables related to the assigned project. Perform analysis, design, programming, and implementation of systems and procedures to solve complex business or scientific problems
3. Evaluate interrelationships in immediate programming area to determine how changes in one program will affect another related area
4. Test modified programs, create necessary test files and data, verify logic, debug, and write relevant documentation
5. Provide guidance to lower-level programmers/analysts.

Qualifications:

1. In-depth experience working with COBOL development and application support to include COBOL, CICS, VSAM, and JCL
2. Hands-on experience working with EDI solutions and claims processing
