Grocery Retailers can be instrumental in our cause while addressing their own critical needs of increased sales, profits, upselling, cross-selling and loyalty, all while providing improved health outcomes for consumers.
Expectations Of The Board As a Whole
The Board of Directors determines the strategic direction and associated policies for GoNo, and the Executive Team implements these policies on a day-to-day basis. Management is the province of the Executive Team; however, the Board is ultimately accountable for the overall success of the organization. Board responsibilities include:
- Administration: Sets policies and provides oversight for their implementation. Ensures adherence to mandates - legal and otherwise - that apply to GoNo.
- Finance: Ensures that GoNo has the necessary financial resources to operate effectively. Approves an annual budget and monitors adherence for fiscal soundness.
- Human Resources: Makes sure GoNo has the necessary human resources. Specifically, the Board hires and supervises the Executive Team and provides the support needed to maintain exceptional personnel.
- Strategic Planning: Develops the vision, mission, and strategic goals and objectives for GoNo and monitors programs and services for currency, relevance, and effectiveness.
- Innovation: Assures that GoNo continues to pursue new innovation relative to its undertakings
Expectations of Each Board Member
- Serve a two-year board term and may be elected to one subsequent term for a total of four consecutive years
- Know and support the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- Read and understand the organization’s financial statements
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the investments, financial resources and partnerships necessary for GoNo to advance its mission
- Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve GoNo’s mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising, reputation, public relations, and customer acquisition goals.
- Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in at least 80% of board meetings per year whether in person or through remote communications
Requirements
- A minimum of ten years in executive, senior executive, c-suite or board of director roles
- Substantial history of successful community or corporate leadership
- Vast connections and experience with grocery retailers
- Recognition by industry associations, journals, colleges, or universities as to accomplishments germane to the above industries and/or the mission of GoNo
- Service on public, private, or non-profit boards or advisory boards.
