We have an opportunity at San Diego Studio: we seek a Game Economy Designer to join the team and work on MLB The Show. We are looking to innovate and challenge the way economies work in sports video games by creating compelling progression paths that prioritize delivering value to the player.

The right person will bring their own creative perspective and skills to the game creation process. The ideal candidate designs from a place of empathy, is highly creative, is on top of recent trends, is a self-starter, and is capable of creating first class experiences. Does that sound like you?

We need your help with:

• Creating, analyzing and balancing a game economy with interdependent factors such as virtual currencies, battle passes and loot boxes
• Balancing economic factors to ensure the player has multiple viable paths for progressing
• Understanding the short and long-term effects of balancing a game economy
• Collaborating with systems designers to create satisfying and economically sustainable features
• Validating design decisions through simulation models

You're good at:

• Designing game economies, monetization methods and live services
• Understanding the relationship between a game's economy and its progression systems
• Collaborating closely with groups such as product management, analytics and user research
• Communicating with peers and partners while collecting feedback in order to iterate on design
• Keeping up to date with the latest game economy design trends, techniques and technology
• Scoping work appropriately and delivering on time

Bonus points for:

• Experience with:
  • Mobile game economies and monetization
  • Sports video games
  • RPG mechanics
• Knowledge of the sport of baseball and its relationship with statistics
• Passion and knowledge of video games in a wide variety of genres

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$78,900 — $118,300 USD
