Job Description:

(Remote) | Foundational Full Stack Engineer (React.js/Next.js/Node.js) | YC-Backed Startup

About the Company

A well-funded, early-stage, YC-backed marketplace platform is transforming how businesses in the transportation space manage repair and maintenance. This team is tackling a massive industry problem: operators struggle to efficiently shop for automotive service, while repair shops lack a reliable, scalable customer acquisition channel. The product is a B2B managed marketplace where operators request services through a digital platform and receive real-time offers from vetted service centers. Customers save significantly compared to median local pricing, while partner shops gain access to new, qualified demand.

About the Role

This is a foundational engineering role at an early-stage startup with clear market validation and strong capital backing. You will work on a product that directly impacts customer profitability and operational efficiency at scale. You will have substantial ownership over architecture, implementation, and the future direction of the platform.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and build full stack web applications (frontend and backend) with an approximate 50/50 split across the stack.
  2. Own the full software development lifecycle: implementation, testing, deployment, and technical support.
  3. Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to define, refine, and execute product strategy.
  4. Take ownership of ambiguous business problems and turn them into shipped features.
  5. Help shape engineering infrastructure, standards, and practices as the company grows.

Qualifications

  1. 3+ years of experience in full stack web development with strong JavaScript and TypeScript fundamentals.
  2. Professional experience building production applications with React.js on the frontend.
  3. Professional experience with Node.js on the backend (experience with frameworks like NestJS is a strong plus).
  4. Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, and schema design.
  5. Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, etc.) for deploying and scaling applications.
  6. Solid understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript tooling across both client and server.

Required Skills

  1. Background in startups or early-stage environments (founder or early employee experience is a plus).
  2. Proven track record of building and shipping high-quality products end to end.
  3. Experience as an early engineer at a scaling company is a plus.
  4. Strong computer science fundamentals; a degree from a rigorous program is a plus but not strictly required.

Preferred Skills

  1. Independent and autonomous: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to self-direct work.
  2. Scrappy mindset: Energized by fast-paced startup environments and bias toward action.
  3. Product-focused: Understands how technical choices influence customer outcomes and business metrics.
  4. Comfortable with full stack ownership: Able to move fluidly between React and Node.js without heavy handoffs.
  5. Infrastructure-minded: Appreciates deployment, scaling, and cloud infrastructure basics.
  6. Passion for the broader transportation or operations space is a plus, and genuine excitement about solving a large, complex problem.

Pay range and compensation package

Base salary up to 200K (depending on experience and location). Meaningful equity stake in a YC-backed company.
