What You’ll Do
As a software developer at Bellwether, you’ll be part of a product team creating a new platform that will go to market in 2023. You’ll do the usual things – write, test and deploy code – utilizing the Scrum framework. We’d also like you to be a go-to resource when we have complicated problems to solve.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
You’ll have a lot of interaction with your fellow dev team members and the scrum master who manages the workload that moves us towards our goal. In case you’re not familiar with scrum, this is a framework that creates an environment for high performing teams. Meet our scrum master.
Much of your time will just be head down, doing what you do but our team is highly collaborative. So, in addition to meeting regularly to discuss project status and challenges, we may spontaneously meet to help a teammate over a hurdle.
What Ramp Up Looks Like
Your first days will be spent familiarizing yourself with the project and learning about our tech stack. We’ll get you set up with any supplemental training that you might need. You can start cranking out code as soon as you feel you’re up to speed with both the project and the tech.
What Success Looks Like
With scrum, we work in sprints, so you’ll get a feeling of satisfaction when you get to the end of a sprint and can look back at the progress you made. You’ll be tackling some pretty complicated software development problems, so you’ll go home feeling like it was a pretty good day when you’ve had a big breakthrough. The project is only going to get to the finish line with everyone’s efforts, however, so you’ll share a huge sense of gratification when the product is launched.
What About Advancement?
Our dev team has doubled in size over the last year and our growth continues. Not only will there be more opportunities as our product goes to market, but there may be future opportunities to lead a team.
