About the Opportunity

We are looking for a backend-heavy developer who is fluent in Python (FastAPI) and Node.js but can hold their own on the frontend (React/Angular).

This is a high-visibility role with a clear path to leadership. You will be hands-on with code 80-90% of the time while mentoring a small, agile team. The Role

1. Architect & Build: Design and develop high-performance RESTful APIs using Python (FastAPI) and Node.js.
2. Lead & Mentor: Act as a technical anchor for a small team. Review code, set standards, and drive technical excellence.
3. Full Stack Integration: While backend-focused, you will manage integration with frontend frameworks (React and Angular).
4. Scale: Optimise database queries and system architecture to handle increased load as the product grows.

The Candidate

1. Backend Expertise: 3-5 years as a Lead Full-stack Developer. Deep production experience with Python (specifically FastAPI) and Node.js is non-negotiable.
2. Frontend Competence: Proficient with modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically React or Angular. You don't need to be a pixel-perfect designer, but you must understand state management and component lifecycle.
3. Leadership Potential: Experience mentoring junior devs or leading small squads. You have excellent communication skills and can explain complex technical concepts clearly.
4. Startup Mindset: You move fast, ship code, and care about the product, not just the ticket.
5. Integration Expertise: Hands-on experience with APIs, web services, and third-party integration tools.
6. Workflow Automation Tools: Experience with no-code workflow automation platforms. (e.g., Zapier, Azure Logic Apps, Microsoft Power Platform)
7. Proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL.
8. Experience with Git and RESTful API Design.
9. Cloud expertise with platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
10. Hands-on experience deploying applications independently.
11. Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills with the ability to develop tailored solutions in dynamic environments.
12. Bonus: Experience with AI/ML technologies, working with the government, or working across various industries.
