We are currently partnered with a start-up subscription news agency that is looking for a Full-Time Full-Stack Engineer that specializes in Ruby on Rails and React.

This candidate can be hybrid in New York, NY or San Francisco, CA.

Description:

Our engineering team, within our business division, is looking for a driven and collaborative product engineer to help scale, improve, and maintain the technical systems that power our business. In this role, you’ll work on building new features, enhancing existing ones, and ensuring the stability and reliability of our platform.

What you’ll do:

1. Participate in the development of new features and improvements, adhering to best practices and ensuring code quality.
2. Continuously improve technical systems to align with evolving business needs.
3. Ensure the reliability and performance of our internal and external facing applications through proactive support and maintenance.
4. Propose and implement tech-driven ideas to move the needle for the business.
5. Diagnose and resolve technical issues to enhance system stability and user experience.
6. Engage in code reviews to share feedback and exchange ideas with peers.
7. Contribute to a culture of learning and teaching by sharing knowledge and supporting team development.
8. Evolve into a Subject Matter Expert (SME), where you’ll be the go-to engineer for an area of our business.

Qualifications:

1. 3+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer, with exposure to web development.
2. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, such as Heroku and Cloudflare (which we use), AWS, or similar platforms.
3. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug technical challenges.
4. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset.
5. A willingness to learn, share knowledge, and grow with the team.
6. Experience working in a server-side language (Ruby on Rails)
7. Experience working in AI (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, OpenAI, Langsmith, Langchain, etc)
8. Experience working in JavaScript and React.
9. Experience working in relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL).
10. Understanding of database architecture.

Bonus Qualifications:

1. Experience with performance optimization or scalability.
2. Familiarity working with a CDP platform like Segment, CustomerIO or BlueConic.
3. Experience working in Media / Journalism.
