Capsule AI builds agentic strategy infrastructure for life sciences. We're a small, fast-moving team. Both roles below are early hires with real ownership and a clear path to grow as the company scales.

About the role

You'll be a founding engineer building the core systems behind Capsule AI, including the agentic infrastructure, data pipelines, and applications that turn unstructured science into traceable, decision-ready outputs for life sciences teams.

This role is deliberately flexible with room to lean toward AI/agentic work or full-stack product work depending on your strengths and interests. You'll have end-to-end ownership of significant features, work directly with Capsule’s GTM team to understand real gaps, and ship quickly. Our stack includes purpose-built models (scientific OCR, domain embeddings, voice model), knowledge graphs, a multi-agent orchestration layer, and customer-facing workflow applications.

What you'll do

1. Design, build, and own significant features across the stack, from data pipelines and APIs through to the interfaces customers interact with.
2. Build and optimize agentic systems: planning, tool use, retrieval, and evaluation, leveraging our proprietary life sciences data and models.
3. Take projects end-to-end, from ambiguous problems through production deployment, ensuring reliability, scalability, and accuracy.
4. Opportunities for forward-deployment with Top 10 pharmas.
5. Work directly with internal teams to refine product capabilities based on real feedback.
6. Contribute to engineering best practices around testing, observability, and security

What we're looking for

1. 3+ years of professional software engineering experience as a generalist comfortable working across the stack.
2. Strong fundamentals and proficiency in Python and TypeScript (or similar).
3. Experience with LLM and agentic systems (retrieval, tool use, evals, agent loops)
4. Evidence you ship: side projects, open source, anything that shows the work is real. A track record of shipping impactful features with high attention to reliability and detail.
5. Comfort with ambiguity. We don't have a PM; you help to define requirements

Nice to have

1. Previous experience at high-growth startups (Pre-seed, Seed, Series A)
2. Experience training or fine-tuning ML / deep learning models.
3. Demonstrated interest in life sciences (bio, chem, pharma)
4. CS / computer engineering degree or equivalent experience.
