The Food and Beverage Director leads the development, innovation, deployment and enhancement of all food and beverages operated by Fort Worden Hospitality. This role guides the food & beverage team to understand and achieve the food and service philosophies with passion and consistency. The Director takes a consistent approach at each of the hospitality outlets ensuring operations are both human centered (for guests and staff) and cost effective. This role inspires, coaches and builds highly performing teams that are empowered to wow our guests.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Innovate, Streamline and Manage food and beverage programs that excel; at; providing consistent service, producing quality delicious food that meets the hospitality and food philosophies
- Coach and lead department personnel with an eye toward personal growth and success
- Lead creative food planning in resort-style hospitality operations that develops tasty offerings appropriate to the variety of outlets and catering menus
- Manage expense ratios and controllable costs through thoughtful pricing strategies, purchasing and labor controls across multiple units
- Oversee key improvements and business strategies within budget and timing expectations for the outlets/products/services
- Oversee all food and beverage purchasing information; invoices, contracts and receipts ensuring accurate record keeping and timely submittal of orders, documentation and (expense) reports to finance
- Maintain standards at all outlets assessing controls, quality, cleanliness, service standards and security, including ensuring food safety standards are consistently applied
- Work closely with facilities on yearly maintenance service schedule, and support supervisors in daily maintenance requests and management
- Develop and enhance training programs to support staff and provide leadership to team on ongoing workplace updates
- Direct team in planning and execution of Banquet Event Orders and other special events
- Work cross functionally with other managers and departments to ensure cohesive guest experience
- Manage assigned staff, conduct check-ins and reviews, utilize effective communication and foster positive work environment
- Define sufficient staff levels to ensure smooth operations; assist managers and supervisors with the recruiting, hiring and training of employees. Collaborate with People and Culture to remove barriers to hiring and retention.
- Coordinate and maintain vendor and supplier relationships
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- College/university/technical degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of performing a similar role
- Experience conducting inventory, scheduling staff, analyzing monthly P&L, pricing menus
- Demonstrated ability to perform to monthly revenue goals and department objectives
- Available for flexible hours to meet the needs of the department including evenings, weekends and holidays
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Innovative thinker and creative problem solver with a focus on collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills; speak with others using clear and professional language, conflict management with ability to lead and train a team
- Project management capability and including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet required deadlines with ability to work under own initiative, alone or as a team
- Professional knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software and PMS systems)
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Must possess hearing, visual and/or sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations; also, to distinguish product, taste texture, temperature and presentation and preparation
- Washington Food Handlers Card and Washington State Alcohol Card and Training
- Certified in WA State approved Food Manager food sanitation course; First Aid training and CPR certification preferred
