POSITION SUMMARY:

Facility Maintenance Team Member maintains the playing field to ensure optimal playability and player safety. This position performs demanding physical labor outdoors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Field Preparation: Mowing grass, edging, watering, chalking foul lines, and painting the batters' boxes and pitching rubber
• Dirt and Turf Maintenance: Leveling and dragging the infield, raking the pitcher's mound, and filling holes to maintain uniform playing surfaces
• Weather Management: Rapidly deploying and removing the infield tarp to protect the field from rain and adverse conditions
• Equipment Handling: Setting up and removing batting cages, L-screens, and bases for pre-game practice
• Game-Time Operations: Sweeping home plate, raking the infield dirt between innings, and touching up the field as needed
• Assist all field-related projects including but not limited to sod replacements, new field installations, aerification, top dressing, etc.
• Assist in the completion of needed off-season renovation projects on all aspects of athletic field
• Complete special projects and daily assignments as directed by management

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have experience working with turf sports fields, sports facilities and associated grounds and equipment
• Knowledge/experience maintaining natural grass and synthetic surfaces
• Knowledge of irrigation repairs and maintenance is a plus
• Available and willing to work long hours and varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to follow and give written and oral instructions
• Ability to promote a positive self-image and lead by example

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
• May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions
• Facility has intermittent noise
• Duties are performed in direct sunlight and will be exposed to hot, wet, and humid conditions
• Exposure to pesticide chemicals that must be handled with extreme caution
