Job Description

Ridgewater College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable English Instructor to join our team. This full-time position involves teaching composition, corequisite, and literature courses to our students in multiple modalities.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and deliver engaging and culturally responsive curriculum materials; provides meaningful feedback to support student educational growth; collaborate with colleagues across liberal arts and technical programs; actively participate in the profession and in college activities.

Salary Range:

$43,912 - $95,542: Dependent on education and years of experience, there are step limits in the contract that we are limited to, with the highest salary delegated at around $71,893.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

  1. Master's degree with a major in English or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in English.

Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement

  1. Course construction (credit course)*
  2. Teaching/instructional methods (credit course)*
  3. Student outcomes assessment/evaluation (credit course)*
  4. Philosophy of community and technical college education (credit or non-credit course)**
  5. Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
  6. These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.2)
  7. ** This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)

Preferred Qualification

Already has or is willing to obtain credentials to teach developmental courses that use an integrated reading and writing (IRW) approach.
